Until the 17th century, people perhaps thought "machines" as a subject of science fiction! In particular, they had attempted to define themselves in relation to the animal kingdom. But, after the industrial revolution, major advancements in technology were made, due to which we are perhaps in this “mechanical” world today.
The basic difference between machines and humans lies in the fact that we believe that we have emotions and intelligence, but machines do not. But, is it really so that humans possess these qualities, especially in this current world? Aren't we losing all our basic identities!
Humans have created machines. But, their new creations, in turn, have raised the question of whether animals are merely a variant of the machine and whether the machine, as a kind of monster, can turn against its creator and either "take over" or make humans over into its own image. Lately, we can find many such instances, where machines have surpassed humans! As a result, this gives way to one of the world's biggest controversies - have the machines got past humans?
But, before all these, I have a question before everyone - Who are we? Where have we come from? Many have proposed many theories, but are they satisfying? Starting from the big bang theory to the question of existence of God, we are clueless. Perhaps, we still don’t know the basic universal law! As like Newton said,
“To myself I am only a child playing on the beach, while vast oceans of truth lie undiscovered before me.”
As we failed in our quest to find all these answers, we have perhaps only made this earth for ourselves. Every bit of work we do in this world, starting from production of deadly weapons to destruction of forests - all is for our own. We can see that selfishness of humans is proved in every aspect. Even saving the endangered species of animals and plants are only for our ecosystem, ultimately resulting for the betterment of humans! As shown in many science fiction movies, now, men are trying to invoke the so called “Artificial Intelligence” into the machines. And I guess, that day is not very far when we will get to see the science fiction into the realities!
So, now, I leave the question before all my readers,
AREN’T WE MACHINED?
